Making Dreams Come True
Act 2 Records, Inc. is a new label formed in 2002. The principal of Act 2 is Ron Hirsch. Mr. Hirsch previously owned and operated Acts Records, one of the leading Gospel Labels in the World. His goal in establishing Act 2 Records was to provide an outlet for new talent whereby anyone who has some talent and some ambition can pursue their dreams of stardom. Mr. Hirsch says, “It’s our job to make Dreams Come True.” In essence, the Music Industry has some unique business practices that penalize individuals for pursuing their dreams. Quite often, individuals have to file for bankruptcy because of the practice of indebting the artist to the Label. This is contrary to our basic philosophy. We feel that artists are best at creating and performing their music. They are not necessarily experienced business professionals. Therefore, at Act 2 Records we have created an environment where the Artist can pursue their creative and musical ambitions while Act 2 takes care of the Business side of things, without any expenses accruing back to the Artist.
Mr. Hirsch goes on to say, “We look at ourselves as a starting point for artists. Perhaps the best analogy is to say that we’re like the Minor Leagues for the Majors. This is not to downplay the quality of our productions, but rather to clarify our key role as a conduit of talent to the Major Labels.”
“These days, the Music Industry is in disarray. The major labels can no longer afford to go out and invest millions in unknown artists without any guarantees. Therefore they look to independent labels like ourselves who can offer them a polished Artist with a current following and existing sales from which they can build from.”
So far, this approach is being received with tremendous enthusiasm as it helps to provide new artists with a realistic approach to pursuing a music career, and provides the Major Labels with New Talent, at a substantially reduced investment.
